Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, has secured a $2.8 billion undefinitized contract action for Lot 18 production of F135 engines powering all three variants of the F-35 Lightning II fighter. The contract covers engines for U.S. and international customers, as well as spares, modules, tooling, engineering, and production support. To date, the company has delivered more than 1300 F135 engines to a global network of 20 allied nations.
The F135 program plays a major role in the U.S. economy, sustaining more than 67000 domestic jobs across 240 suppliers and contributing $9.1 billion in 2024 alone. Pratt & Whitney emphasizes that the contract ensures continued support for air forces worldwide while maintaining the technological edge needed to secure future combat readiness.

Delivering over 40000 lbs. of thrust, unmatched stealth capability, advanced thermal management, and the most sophisticated integrated control system ever created, the F135 stands as the world’s most powerful and reliable fighter engine. With superior readiness and dependability compared to 4th generation engines, it ensures that U.S. and allied warfighters can operate effectively in the most advanced threat environments, preserving air superiority for decades.
