BAE Systems Australia’s RAZER Low-Cost Precision Guided Munition (LCPGM) has proven its effectiveness by achieving direct hits during recent certification trials in Cloncurry, Queensland. First introduced at the Avalon Airshow in 2023, RAZER has undergone three years of development to provide defence forces with an affordable solution that increases the range and accuracy of 155mm shells and similar payloads. The system combines a glide body, wing kit, tail control unit, and guidance system, now enhanced with a mission planning capability.
The trials confirmed that RAZER can carry payloads between 7 and 43 kilograms, supporting mortars, naval shells, or custom-designed warheads. Its design emphasizes operational flexibility, allowing troops to prepare the system for launch within 20 minutes. By keeping costs low and enabling local production through a sovereign supply chain, RAZER directly aligns with Australia’s strategy to strengthen onshore guided weapons manufacturing.

Looking ahead, the program envisions significant growth. Future upgrades may integrate seeker technology for engaging moving targets, rocket-assisted land-launched variants to extend strike range, and even electronic warfare payloads. With confirmed accuracy, robust performance, and adaptability across domains, RAZER is positioned as a cost-effective precision strike capability attracting increasing global interest.
